The Most Addictive & Super Simple Tteokbokki Recipe

 Hello, food lovers!

If you're craving authentic Korean street food, Tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) is a must-try. But what if you want that amazing flavor without a complicated recipe? I found the perfect one from "CookyKitchen" on YouTube.

This recipe is incredibly simple, but the taste is so addictive. It creates that classic, sweet and spicy sauce you're looking for. Let's make it!

🌶️ Ingredients

  • 400g Tteok (flour-based rice cakes)

  • 2 pieces Fish cake (eomuk)

  • Boiled eggs (as many as you like)

  • ~20cm Green onion

  • 500ml Water

[Sauce Seasoning]

  • 2 Tbs Sugar

  • 2 Tbs Soy sauce

  • 3 Tbs Rice syrup (or corn syrup)

  • 2 Tbs Fine red pepper powder (Gochugaru)

  • 1 ts Beef dasida (Korean beef stock powder)

(Recipe Note: If you only have coarse red pepper powder, you can briefly blend it to make it finer, which helps thicken the sauce.)

🍳 Instructions

  1. Prep Ingredients: Soak the flour tteok in water. Cut the fish cakes into bite-sized pieces. Cut the green onion into long strips (~20cm). (Separately, boil your eggs if you haven't already).

  2. Make the Sauce: In a pan, add 500ml of water. Add all the sauce seasonings: sugar, soy sauce, rice syrup, red pepper powder, and beef dasida. Mix well until everything is dissolved.

  3. Combine: Add the soaked tteok, cut fish cakes, green onion, and the boiled eggs directly into the sauce.

  4. Boil: Bring the pan to a boil over high heat.

  5. Simmer: Once it starts boiling, lower the heat to medium-low. Let it simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  6. Finish: The sauce will thicken as it boils down. You can simmer it even longer if you like a thicker, richer sauce. Serve hot!
